Singapore Student's Pass

The Student's Pass allows foreign students to study full-time at approved institutions in Singapore. Schools must be registered with the Ministry of Education (MOE) or relevant agencies. You cannot study on a visit visa or social visit pass.

Who qualifies: You must have an acceptance letter from an approved school. The school typically helps with the Student's Pass application via SOLAR (Student's Pass Online Application and Registration) or SOLAR+. You submit documents through the institution; they forward to ICA.

Key factors: ICA assesses your genuine intention to study, the credibility of the institution, and your financial ability. You may need to show bank statements or sponsor documents. Some programmes require additional checks. Processing time varies — the school will advise.

Fees (ICA): S$60 issuance fee for the Student's Pass. If you need to travel in and out of Singapore during your studies, an additional S$30 for Multiple Journey Visa (MJV) applies. Fees may change — confirm on ICA Student's Pass page.

Duration and work: Student's Pass is issued for the duration of your course. Working during studies is generally restricted — there may be limited work rights for certain institutions or during vacation. Check your specific pass conditions. After graduation, you may be eligible for other passes (e.g. work pass) if you secure a job offer.
