Singapore Employment Pass (EP)

The Employment Pass (EP) is Singapore's main work pass for foreign professionals. It is intended for individuals in managerial, executive, or specialised roles with a job offer from a Singapore-registered company.

Who qualifies: MOM assesses salary, qualifications, and experience. There are salary thresholds (which may change — check MOM) and the role should match your background. The employer applies; you do not apply yourself. Your employer submits the application via MOM EP eService.

Key factors: The job offer must be genuine, the company must be legitimate, and your qualifications must justify the role. MOM may require the employer to advertise the position on MyCareersFuture and consider Singaporeans fairly before hiring a foreign worker. COMPASS is a points-based framework that may apply — confirm current rules on MOM.

Fees (MOM): S$105 when submitting the application; S$225 when the pass is issued. An additional S$30 applies for Multiple Journey Visa (MJV) if you need to travel in and out of Singapore frequently. Fees may change — confirm on MOM EP page before paying.

Duration and renewal: EP is typically issued for up to 2 years initially (renewable). After gaining experience in Singapore, you may become eligible for longer renewals and eventually for permanent residence pathways. Your employer handles the application; you provide documents (passport, qualifications, employment history, consent form).
