About eVisa
The Taiwan eVisa (eVisa), or more precisely, the Taiwan Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC), is an online system that allows citizens of certain countries to obtain advance permission to enter Taiwan. Citizens of Georgia are generally not eligible for the standard Taiwan eVisa program. However, there is an exception: if you hold a valid visa or permanent resident permit from certain countries, you may be eligible to apply for an online authorization, which functions similarly to an eVisa.
This special authorization is intended for short-term visits, such as tourism, business meetings, or visiting relatives. It allows you to stay in Taiwan for up to 90 days, with the option of single or multiple entries, within 90 days of approval. It is important to note that this authorization is not renewable while in Taiwan. If the purpose of your visit is to study, work, or long-term immigration, you must apply for the appropriate category, such as Resident Visa (single entry) or Resident Visa (multiple entry) , which requires application at an embassy or consulate.
To obtain a Taiwan Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC), Georgian citizens must hold a valid visa or permanent residence permit from one of the following countries: the United States , Canada , the United Kingdom (or any country in the United Kingdom), the Schengen Area, Australia , Japan , South Korea, or New Zealand. However, this visa or residence permit must be valid or have expired no more than 10 years prior to the date of entry into Taiwan. This requirement differs from the visa processes in Singapore or Japan, where often only a valid visa is sufficient, not an expired one. Once the TAC is approved, you will receive an electronic document that you must present at the border.
The application process is completely online and is usually quick. In most cases, approval is immediate if all requirements are met. However, in some cases, a manual review may be required, which may take 1 to 3 business days. Common reasons for rejection include incomplete or inaccurate information, violation of visa conditions during a previous stay in Taiwan, or failure to hold a visa/residence permit from the country required to obtain a TAC. This way of obtaining a Taiwan visa greatly simplifies the process for citizens who meet the criteria, as opposed to the traditional embassy application process, which requires more time and documentation.
